This may include anonymized transaction identifiers, product identifiers (e.g., subscription tier or duration), purchase timestamps, renewal status, and trial period eligibility. No payment card details, billing addresses, or full account credentials are collected or stored by us, as all such information is handled exclusively by Apple in accordance with their privacy and security practices.
All personal information listed in this section is processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other relevant regional regulations. We apply appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect this information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
b. Uploaded, Scanned, and User-Generated Documents
The DocBound application provides users with robust tools for importing, scanning, editing, converting, annotating, and exporting a wide range of document types. In the course of using these functionalities, users may create, upload, or modify digital content that may be considered personal or sensitive in nature. The types of content we support and process include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Scanned Documents: Users may use the App’s scanning feature to capture physical documents using their device’s camera. These scans may include forms, contracts, receipts, ID cards, hand-written pages, printed material, or any other tangible item that the user converts into a digital file. The resulting file is often stored as a PDF or image format (e.g., JPG, PNG, HEIC), depending on user preferences.
- QR Code and Barcode Scanning: The App includes a built-in QR code and barcode scanner that decodes and captures the information encoded in these formats. Any data decoded through this feature is processed locally on the user’s device and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Business Card and ID Card Scanning: Users may scan business cards and identification cards to capture and digitize the information they contain. All data captured through this feature is processed locally on the user’s device. Users are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate authorization before scanning any third-party identification documents.
- Passport Scanning: Users may scan passport documents to create a digital copy. Passport data is highly sensitive and is processed exclusively on the user’s device. No passport image or extracted data is uploaded to or stored on our servers. Users must ensure they have proper authorization before scanning any passport document.
- Uploaded Documents: Users may also upload pre-existing files from their device’s local storage, the Files app, or supported cloud services such as iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, and others. These documents may include, but are not limited to, PDF files, Word documents (DOC, DOCX), spreadsheets (XLS, XLSX), plain text files (TXT), ZIP archives, and image formats (JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, etc.).
- Edited and Converted Content: Once a document is scanned or uploaded, users may use DocBound’s built-in editing tools to modify, annotate, split, merge, reorganize, or otherwise process their files. The App also supports a range of document editing operations including adding electronic signatures, stamps, images, text annotations, and markup; merging and splitting documents; reordering, deleting, or adding pages; removing watermarks; adding page numbering and footers; password-protecting documents; and redacting or hiding sensitive content. Additionally, the App supports conversion between file types, including JPG to PDF, among other supported format transformations. All editing and conversion operations are performed locally on the user’s device.
- Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Text Extraction: Users may apply OCR technology to scanned images or uploaded files containing text, enabling them to extract editable, searchable, and selectable text from static visual inputs. The resulting extracted text may be saved, edited, or exported as new documents in supported formats.
Local Device Storage
All content — whether scanned, uploaded, created, or edited — is stored locally on the user’s device by default. We do not access, store, back up, or transmit these documents to our own servers unless explicitly initiated by the user. This gives users full autonomy and privacy over their files and allows the App to function offline without dependency on remote data centers or external cloud hosting under our control.
No Server-Side Storage
Unless explicitly submitted for technical support purposes or transmitted through AI interactions as described above, we do not store or retain any documents — whether PDF, DOCX, XLS, TXT, ZIP, image, or otherwise — on our own infrastructure. Files reside only on your personal device or within any cloud storage services that you may choose to integrate or use independently from the App.
c. Usage and Interaction Data
In the course of your use of the DocBound mobile application, we may collect various types of usage and interaction data to better understand user behavior, diagnose technical issues, improve feature design, and enhance the overall performance and reliability of the App. These data types are typically collected via built-in telemetry and analytics tools and may include, but are not limited to, the following categories:
- Feature Access and Engagement Metrics: We may log information about which features or modules within the App are accessed by the user, including the frequency of usage, order of feature access, and the duration of engagement with specific tools. For example, we may record how often you use OCR, file conversion, document markup, or document splitting features. This helps us identify which functionalities are most useful to our user base and guide our future development priorities.
- User Interface Interaction Patterns: We may collect information about how users interact with the application interface. This can include tap events, button clicks, swipe gestures, scroll behavior, zooming, drag-and-drop actions, or multi-touch gestures. These behavioral signals help us analyze UI effectiveness, identify potential usability friction points, and improve app navigation and responsiveness.
- Session-Based Metrics: This includes data related to individual usage sessions, such as session start and end times, total session duration, and the number of sessions initiated within a specific time frame. Session data is essential for understanding overall user engagement and for segmenting user behavior based on active vs. passive use.
- In-App Navigation and Workflow Behavior: We may track navigation flows within the application, such as transitions between pages or modules, navigation hierarchy paths, and feature-to-feature clickthrough rates. These navigation patterns help us evaluate the effectiveness of the App’s information architecture and optimize the sequence of user interactions.
This category of data is collected in an aggregated and anonymized format where possible, and is not used to personally identify any individual user. Such data is primarily used for internal performance optimization, feature enhancement, and user experience refinement. We do not use this data to draw inferences about individual identity or behavior unless explicitly required for technical diagnostics or support resolution.
In some cases, usage and interaction data may be shared with authorized third-party service providers (such as Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics) under strict contractual obligations to ensure the data is used solely for the purposes of system monitoring, performance evaluation, or aggregate trend reporting.
All collection and processing of usage data is performed in accordance with applicable data protection laws and with adherence to principles of data minimization, purpose limitation, and privacy by design.
d. Analytics Data
To monitor the performance, stability, and usability of the DocBound mobile application, as well as to understand user engagement patterns and improve our services, we may collect and process various forms of analytics data through trusted third-party service providers. One such provider currently integrated within the App is Google Analytics for Firebase, a mobile analytics platform offered by Google LLC.
When you use the App, the following types of analytics-related data may be collected automatically and processed for statistical and diagnostic purposes:
- Session Behavior and Screen View Data: This includes data related to how long users spend in the App, the number of sessions initiated, how frequently specific features or modules are accessed, and the sequence in which different screens or components are viewed. These metrics are aggregated to provide insights into user flows and drop-off points, helping us enhance usability and streamline navigation.
- In-App Event Tracking: The App may log specific user actions, referred to as “events,” such as opening a scanned document, initiating a file conversion, using the OCR tool, engaging with AI features, making an in-app purchase, or completing a subscription flow. These events allow us to analyze feature effectiveness, track feature adoption, and identify patterns in how users interact with key functionalities.
- Device and Browser Attributes: Depending on platform-level permissions, we may collect technical metadata such as device model, operating system type and version, app version, language settings, screen resolution, network connectivity status, and browser information (when applicable via web-based interactions). This data is useful for performance benchmarking, crash diagnosis, and platform-specific optimization.
All analytics data collected is used in an aggregated and anonymized form where possible. We do not use this data to directly identify individual users, nor do we link this information with other personal identifiers (e.g., IP address or device ID) unless necessary to resolve specific technical issues or prevent fraudulent use of the App.
Analytics data is processed by Google Analytics under a data processing agreement in accordance with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant legal standards. We do not grant Google the right to use our analytics data for advertising or cross-service profiling, and IP anonymization features are enabled where supported.
You may choose to limit analytics tracking through your device’s privacy settings or by contacting us directly at support@appbound.app to inquire about opting out of non-essential telemetry. However, disabling analytics may limit our ability to detect app malfunctions or deliver an optimized user experience.
We reserve the right to add or change our analytics providers in the future. Any such changes will be reflected in an updated version of this Privacy Policy.
e. Advertising Data
Advertising data is collected exclusively in relation to users of the free-tier version of the DocBound application. Users on this tier may be shown third-party advertisements as part of the App’s monetization strategy. These advertisements are served via Google AdMob, a mobile advertising platform provided by Google LLC, which operates under its own privacy policy and data processing standards.
The following categories of information may be collected or processed for the purpose of displaying, personalizing, and optimizing in-app advertisements:
- Advertising Identifier (IDFA): On iOS devices, we may access the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), which is a unique, randomly generated string assigned by Apple for advertising purposes. This identifier allows ad networks such as Google AdMob to measure ad interactions, deliver relevant content, perform attribution analysis, and comply with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. Users will be prompted for consent to tracking in accordance with ATT before any access to IDFA is granted.
- Ad Engagement and Interaction Metrics: We may collect anonymized data about how users interact with ads presented within the App. This includes impressions (how many times an ad is shown), clicks (whether an ad was tapped or otherwise engaged with), and other behavioral metrics such as time spent viewing or dismissing an ad. This data is used to measure advertising effectiveness, reduce ad fatigue, and improve user experience by adjusting ad frequency or relevance.
- Device and Contextual Information: Google AdMob may collect technical information about your device to optimize ad delivery. This may include device model, operating system version, screen resolution, language settings, and the App version currently installed. In some cases, AdMob may infer approximate geolocation (e.g., country, region, or city) based on IP address or device settings in order to serve regionally relevant advertisements.
No personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or contact details is collected for advertising purposes. Ad data is anonymized and aggregated in accordance with Google’s ad personalization policies and applicable privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA.
Ad Removal via Subscription
Users who prefer an ad-free experience may do so by subscribing to a premium subscription plan. In addition to removing all in-app advertisements, a premium subscription also unlocks access to advanced features within the App. Subscription plans are available on a weekly, monthly, or yearly basis. Specific pricing for each plan is displayed at the time of purchase within the App and may vary based on current promotional offers.
Once an active subscription is in place, no advertising-related data will be collected or processed for that user in connection with Google AdMob services. Users may verify the status of their subscription through their Apple ID account settings.
Opt-Out Options
Users may manage their advertising preferences by:
- Declining tracking consent via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt,
- Resetting or limiting their device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) from iOS privacy settings,

Instructions for managing Apple subscriptions are available on Apple’s official support site. Cancellation of a subscription will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and users will retain access to their selected features until that time. Refunds, if applicable, must be requested directly from Apple and are issued in accordance with their policies.
7. Advertising and Ad Personalization
DocBound includes advertising features that are applicable only to users of the free-tier version of the App. These advertisements are integrated for the purpose of supporting ongoing development and maintenance of the App while still offering essential features at no cost to the user. Ads are delivered using Google AdMob, a mobile advertising platform provided by Google LLC, which may serve banner ads, interstitial ads, and potentially rewarded video ads depending on the user flow and feature configuration.
In order to serve relevant, non-repetitive, and functionally appropriate advertisements, certain technical and behavioral data may be shared with or accessed by Google AdMob and its authorized ad delivery partners. These may include the following categories:
- Advertising Identifier (IDFA): On iOS devices, we may collect and transmit the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), a randomized device-level identifier used by advertisers to track ad performance and deliver personalized ad experiences. Collection of this identifier is contingent on user consent obtained through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.
- Device Type and Operating System Details: Ad networks may collect metadata including the user’s device model, operating system name and version, screen resolution, language settings, and App version. This data enables the platform to optimize ad content for display compatibility and performance.
- Approximate Geolocation: AdMob may infer the user’s general geographic region (e.g., city, region, or country) based on IP address or device-level regional settings. This allows for location-aware ad delivery (e.g., promoting local apps or services) without tracking precise GPS location data.
- Application Usage Events: Aggregated behavioral data such as session frequency, time spent in the App, and interaction patterns may be shared in anonymized form to improve the relevance and frequency capping of advertisements. This data is used to prevent repetitive ad experiences and ensure ads are matched to contextual content.
Consent and Opt-Out Mechanisms
We are committed to respecting user choice and privacy with regard to personalized advertising. Users have the ability to opt out of ad personalization in the following ways:
- In-App Settings: DocBound offers a privacy settings menu where users can disable interest-based ads or limit data sharing with advertising networks. These settings are accessible from within the App’s main menu or settings panel.
- Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) Prompt: On devices running iOS 14.5 or later, users are presented with a system-level ATT prompt asking whether they consent to allow the App to “track” them across apps and websites owned by other companies. If declined, the IDFA will not be shared with AdMob or any other ad network, and only non-personalized ads will be served.
- Device Advertising Settings: Users may reset or limit their device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) at any time through their device’s privacy or advertising settings. This action may reduce the relevance of ads but does not disable ad delivery entirely.
Ad-Free Subscription Option
Users who prefer an advertising-free experience may subscribe to a premium subscription plan. Subscribing removes all advertising placements within the App for the duration of the active subscription and also unlocks access to advanced features. Plans are available on a weekly, monthly, or yearly basis, with pricing displayed at the time of purchase. Upon activation of a subscription, no further advertising-related data will be collected or processed for that user.
Data Use and Privacy Compliance
All advertising data collected and shared through DocBound is managed in accordance with the data privacy policies of Google AdMob and applicable legal frameworks, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We do not sell personal information to third parties and implement reasonable technical and contractual safeguards to ensure ad partners only process data as strictly necessary for the delivery of ads.
If we introduce additional ad partners or change our advertising practices in the future, this section of the Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

We do not allow third-party advertising cookies on our website without your explicit consent, and we take reasonable steps to limit the scope of data collected by these providers.
Data Retention and Compliance
Cookie and tracking data are retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined above, after which they are automatically deleted or anonymized. Our handling of cookie-related data is aligned with applicable legal requirements, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other relevant privacy laws.
If you have any questions or concerns about our use of cookies or how your data is tracked on our website, you may contact us at support@appbound.app.
9. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties under any circumstances. However, in order to operate the DocBound mobile application effectively, deliver its features, and maintain optimal user experience, we may share limited categories of data with carefully selected third-party service providers. These entities function as data processors acting on our behalf and are contractually bound to process data only in accordance with our instructions and for the specific purposes outlined below.
Each data-sharing relationship is governed by appropriate data processing agreements (DPAs) that include confidentiality clauses, security standards, data minimization principles, and international data transfer safeguards, where applicable.
The third-party processors currently engaged by AppBound Technologies LLC include:
1. Google Analytics (Firebase Analytics)
- Purpose of Processing: Google Analytics is used to track and analyze user behavior within the App and on our associated website(s). It provides insights into feature usage, user navigation paths, session lengths, and other interaction metrics that help us improve app performance and usability.
- Data Shared: Device-specific metadata (such as OS version, device type, screen resolution), anonymous user identifiers, session data, button click events, screen views, crash reports, and anonymized engagement metrics.
- Safeguards: Data is collected in an aggregated and de-identified form. We have enabled IP anonymization and disabled advertising data sharing features in our analytics configuration where applicable under GDPR and CCPA.
2. Google AdMob
- Purpose of Processing: Google AdMob serves as our advertising network partner for delivering banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads to users of the free-tier version of the App. AdMob optimizes ad delivery, measures ad performance, and supports ad relevance through real-time contextual targeting.
- Data Shared: Device identifiers such as the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), limited usage data including frequency of app launches and screen visits, interaction data related to ad views and clicks, and approximate geolocation (region or city-level) inferred via IP address.
- Safeguards: AdMob processes this data in accordance with Google’s ad privacy guidelines. Users may opt out of personalized ads through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt or by disabling ad tracking in device settings. Ad-related data collection ceases upon activation of the App’s ad-removal subscription tier.
We ensure that all of our third-party processors maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures, and we prohibit them from using your data for purposes other than the limited services they are contracted to provide. These entities are required to comply with applicable privacy regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other relevant data protection laws.
We periodically review our third-party processors and may update our list of vendors or the scope of shared data. Any such changes will be reflected in an updated version of this Privacy Policy.
10. Data Security
AppBound Technologies LLC is committed to protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information processed through the DocBound mobile application and its associated services. We implement a range of technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to prevent unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of user data, whether stored locally on your device or temporarily processed via third-party services.
Local Device Security
The vast majority of content created or handled within DocBound — including scanned documents, uploaded files, edited text, and converted outputs — is stored exclusively on the user’s device and is not uploaded to our servers. This local-first architecture significantly reduces exposure to centralized security breaches and ensures that users retain full control over their documents at all times.
Locally stored data benefits from iOS’s native encryption protections when users secure their devices with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. We strongly recommend that users enable device-level protections such as Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode authentication to prevent unauthorized access to local content.
Secure Transmission of Data
When user-initiated interactions require external processing — such as engaging AI features (via OpenAI API), submitting crash reports, or accessing analytics — all data is transmitted using industry-standard Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption protocols. This ensures that information is encrypted in transit and cannot be intercepted or tampered with by unauthorized third parties.
We do not send entire documents or unnecessary metadata to external processors. All data transmitted externally is strictly limited to what is necessary for the requested service (e.g., summarizing selected text, solving a math problem, processing an anonymized usage event).
Access Controls and Internal Security
Internally, AppBound restricts access to sensitive systems and processing environments through role-based access controls (RBAC), strict authentication protocols, and device-level protections for development and administrative staff. Access to user-related data is limited to employees or contractors who have a legitimate business need and are bound by confidentiality agreements.
Our team follows secure coding practices and performs regular code audits, dependency updates, and vulnerability scans as part of our software development lifecycle. Although the App stores data locally and does not rely on centralized storage, we remain vigilant against emerging threats, including malware injections, reverse engineering, and man-in-the-middle attacks.
Third-Party Processor Security
We only engage third-party service providers that have demonstrated a strong commitment to security and privacy compliance. For example:
- Google Analytics and AdMob apply data encryption and strict access controls on their infrastructure.
- All third-party integrations are subject to Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and privacy reviews prior to implementation.
We also ensure that any international data transfers — where applicable — are conducted under appropriate legal frameworks such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or through providers certified under recognized data transfer mechanisms.
No Guarantee of Absolute Security
While we take commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, it is important to understand that no digital system or transmission method is completely immune to risk. The security of your data may also depend on your own actions, such as keeping your device secure, avoiding suspicious links, and maintaining up-to-date software.
If we detect a security breach that affects your personal information, we will take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable breach notification laws, including notifying affected users and regulators when required.
Reporting Security Concerns
If you believe that your information may have been compromised while using the DocBound app, or if you become aware of a potential vulnerability, please contact our security team immediately at support@appbound.app.
11. Data Retention
AppBound Technologies LLC retains user-related information only for as long as it is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the data was collected, and in accordance with applicable legal, contractual, and regulatory obligations. The specific retention periods vary depending on the nature of the data, the features of the DocBound application being used, and whether the user has requested deletion or deactivation of their data.
We classify data retention as follows:
1. Operational Necessity
We retain certain types of data to deliver and maintain core functionality within the DocBound App. This includes data such as:
- Transaction and subscription metadata (e.g., purchase history, trial status, subscription tier);
- Crash logs and diagnostic reports;
- Anonymized analytics or engagement metrics;
- AI processing logs (if applicable and temporarily retained for debugging or support purposes).
Such data is retained only for the time necessary to deliver services, maintain records of feature access, ensure continuity of access to paid features, or improve application stability.
2. Legal and Regulatory Compliance
We may retain specific categories of technical or transactional data for longer periods where required by law, such as:
- Compliance with tax, financial reporting, or consumer protection laws;
- Retention of records for dispute resolution, regulatory inquiries, or enforcement of our Terms of Use;
- Maintenance of opt-out requests or user withdrawal of consent (as proof of regulatory compliance under GDPR, CCPA, or similar frameworks).
In such cases, retention periods are determined by the nature of the legal obligation and are limited to what is strictly necessary for compliance.
3. Dispute Resolution and Abuse Prevention
In situations where a user has engaged in a dispute, complaint, violation of our terms, or other behavior requiring further review, we may retain relevant data such as user support correspondence, feature usage logs, and communication history. This data is retained for as long as needed to investigate, resolve, or enforce our rights under applicable laws.
4. Scanned Documents and Local Content
DocBound is designed with a local-first architecture. All documents you scan, import, convert, annotate, or generate using the App — including PDFs, DOCX, TXT, XLS, images, and OCR results — are stored exclusively on your personal device. We do not upload or retain these files on our servers, nor do we access them unless you explicitly share a document with us during a support interaction.
Once the AI task is completed or the support ticket is closed, any data temporarily processed for that purpose is discarded and not stored in persistent storage.
5. User Deletion Requests
You have the right to request the deletion of your personal or technical data at any time. Requests may be submitted via email to support@appbound.app. Upon receiving a valid request:
- We will verify your identity (where required by law),
- Cease processing your data (unless a legal exception applies),
- Permanently delete or anonymize any identifiable information held by us, and
- Confirm the deletion or provide justification for denial (e.g., legal retention requirements).
Please note: deletion of data from your device (e.g., removing the app) does not automatically erase all related technical or transactional records retained by Apple or AppBound. To exercise full deletion rights, a formal request must be submitted.
12. User Rights By Jurisdiction
AppBound Technologies LLC is committed to respecting the privacy rights of all users, regardless of geographic location. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have specific legal rights related to your personal data, as established under applicable data protection frameworks such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) in Brazil. We provide this summary to inform you of those rights and how to exercise them.

- Right to Data Portability: You may request a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable copy of your personal data and have the right to transmit it to another controller, where processing is based on consent or contract.
- Right to Object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling or direct marketing, and we will cease processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: If processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
To exercise any of the above rights under GDPR, please contact us at support@appbound.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority (DPA).

13. Children’s Privacy
DocBound is designed for use by individuals aged 13 and older. The App is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect, solicit, or store personal information from individuals in this age group. If you are under 13 years of age, you are not permitted to download, access, or use the App or provide any personal data through its features or related services.
We take the privacy of minors seriously and strive to comply with all applicable laws governing the collection and handling of children’s data, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States and relevant age-based consent requirements under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar international frameworks.
Users Aged 13 to 17
For users between the ages of 13 and 17, access to and use of the App is permitted only with verifiable parental or legal guardian consent. Parents or guardians should closely monitor their child’s use of the App and are encouraged to supervise their interactions with any features that allow file sharing, AI interaction, or subscription activity.
We do not knowingly solicit or process personal data from minors in this age group without such parental consent. Where necessary, we may implement additional verification measures to ensure that a user meets the minimum age requirement or has obtained the necessary approval from a parent or guardian.
Discovery of Unauthorized Use
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected or received personal data from a child under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take immediate action to:
- Delete the data from our systems (if any was stored),
- Restrict future access from the associated user/device,
- Comply with reporting or audit requirements where mandated by law.
If you believe that we may have collected data from or about a child under the age of 13, or from a minor without appropriate parental consent, please contact us immediately at support@appbound.app so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
14. International Data Transfers
AppBound Technologies LLC is headquartered in the United States, and the technical infrastructure supporting the DocBound application — including select third-party service providers — may be located or operate in multiple countries. As a result, your personal information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in jurisdictions other than your country of residence, including but not limited to the United States and countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
These international data transfers may occur:
- When interacting with ad networks and analytics providers (e.g., Google AdMob, Google Analytics);
- Or when our support teams or contractors operate globally under strict confidentiality and access controls.
Legal Basis and Safeguards for EU/EEA Users
If you are located in the European Union or EEA, we ensure that any transfer of your personal data to countries outside the EEA is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These transfers may rely on one or more of the following mechanisms:
- Adequacy Decisions: We may transfer your data to countries recognized by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection (e.g., Canada, the UK, Switzerland).
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs): For transfers to jurisdictions without adequacy decisions, we enter into legally binding Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. These clauses impose data protection obligations on the data recipient equivalent to EU standards.
- Supplementary Measures: Where necessary, we implement additional technical and organizational safeguards — such as encryption, access controls, and data minimization — to ensure equivalent protection of your personal data in transit and at rest.
- User Consent: In limited situations where no other legal basis applies, we may rely on your explicit consent for the international transfer of your personal data, after providing clear information about the potential risks involved.
Safeguards for Other Jurisdictions
For users located in other regions with data transfer restrictions — such as Brazil (under LGPD) or California (under CCPA/CPRA) — we similarly apply appropriate safeguards and follow applicable legal frameworks to ensure that your personal data is treated with a level of protection that is consistent with your local laws.
For California residents, any cross-border transfer of personal data is treated with the same care and subject to the same privacy protections as if the data were processed within the United States.
Data Storage and Hosting
To be clear, we do not operate our own centralized cloud storage system for user-scanned documents or uploaded files. Instead, document content is stored locally on the user’s device and only temporarily processed by external systems (e.g., AdMob) when the user activates those services.
Any personal or technical data that is transmitted internationally — such as analytics events or purchase validation records — is handled securely and solely for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
15. Links to Other Services
The DocBound mobile application and its associated website(s) — including https://appbound.app — may, from time to time, include links to external third-party websites, services, or resources. These links may appear within the App interface, in support materials, in documentation, or on our website, and are provided for your convenience or to give you direct access to relevant tools and policies.
Examples of such third-party links may include, but are not limited to:
- Privacy policies of service providers such as Google AdMob, and Google Analytics;
- Apple’s App Store Terms and Conditions, Subscription Management pages, or Billing Support;
- Help or documentation pages hosted by external platforms (e.g., YouTube videos, knowledge base articles, or community forums);
- Forms or feedback tools (e.g., Google Forms, Typeform) used for collecting user feedback or handling support requests;
- Cloud service links or authentication platforms (if such integrations are introduced in future versions of the App).
Please be advised that these external services are not owned or controlled by AppBound Technologies LLC, and we are not responsible for the content, terms, or privacy practices of those third-party websites or services.
When you click on a third-party link, any data you provide or transmit is subject to the privacy policies and terms of service of that third party — not this Privacy Policy. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy statements and data handling practices of any third-party site or service before engaging with it or submitting any personal information.
We disclaim any liability for the use, misuse, or security of information submitted through external links, and such inclusion should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the third party’s policies or practices.
16. Changes to This Policy

We are committed to maintaining transparency and will make every reasonable effort to inform users of material changes to the way we collect, use, or disclose personal information.
How We Will Notify You
In the event of a significant or material update to this Privacy Policy — including changes to the types of data collected, how data is shared with third parties, or user rights — we will provide clear and timely notice by:

- Updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this Privacy Policy;
- Publishing the revised policy on our official website at https://appbound.app.
In some cases, where required by applicable law, we may also seek your explicit consent to new processing practices or policy changes before they are applied to your data.

Where applicable, you also provide your consent to the collection, use, processing, and disclosure of your personal data in accordance with this policy and the relevant legal basis (e.g., consent, contract, or legitimate interest). You may withdraw your consent at any time by discontinuing use of the App or contacting us with a data deletion request.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not access or use DocBound or any associated features that require data processing.
